Summer Book Study
» Sunday, May 21, 2017

All are welcome to participate in our summer book study held Monday afternoons from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. for ten weeks beginning July 10th.

The title of the book is “A Song to Sing, A Life to Live” by Don and Emily Saliers (father and daughter). Our study will reflect upon music as a spiritual practice.  Don is a professor of theology, and church organist; his daughter Emily is a member of the Indigo Girls folk-rock duo. The book takes us through generations of various types of music from the Saturday night jazz clubs to the hymns of Sunday morning worship. Music brings a special artfulness to the patterns and rhythms of life as it takes shape over time. The book will take us on a very interesting journey with music.

For more information contact Marjorie Latimer at 905-639-4386 to register.

The Gardens of St. Luke
» Sunday, April 09, 2017

The parish is fortunate to have several low maintenance gardens that enhance the beauty of our grounds: the Front of the Church, the Memorial garden around the columbarium, the Fergusson plot, and the Hall gardens (front and side).

Each year, these gardens are tend by a group of dedicated volunteers. This year some of our gardeners have moved on to other 'jobs' in the parish, so we need help with the Hall gardens and the Memorial garden.

If you are interested in helping care for one of these gardens, please contact Michael Skafel at 905 332 0837 or mgskafeloutlookcom

St. Luke's Goes to Wonderland
» Sunday, June 18, 2017

We are interested in organizing a trip to Canada's Wonderland in August. Calling all young people (and some people to be volunteer drivers and accompany the young people).

Firstly, if any adults would like to drive, please email me back. Secondly, I need some help finding a date, so could you choose all the dates you could make by clicking on this link. Type in your name, choose the dates you can make and don't forget to hit "Save." Jesus saves, please do so too!

Each person would be responsible for purchasing their own tickets. They are significantly cheaper if bought online at least three days in advance. Check out Wonderland's link here.

Nursery & Sunday Club News

Re-Starting the Sunday Nursery
Several parents would like us to re-start our Sunday nursery to allow parents the option of having their children aged 0-3 to go to the nursery. Please note that children of any age are always welcome to stay in Church too. (If they make noises they're only fulfilling their job description and it reminds us all that this is a living Church.)
However, to provide parents with a choice we'd like to offer a nursery. We'd like to restart it very soon and for it to be principally staffed with a parent in charge (or else people trained in first aid as well as early childhood education.) We expect it will be mostly parents who staff it and we have several who have volunteered already. We'd like to get more volunteers so, if you're willing, please let Heather Faint know by email: heather.benson86gmailcom

Children's Focus in Church at the start of 10:00 am Sunday Service
Each Sunday we are having our 10:00am Church service start with a short children's focus, just after the opening hymn.  Parents, please bring your children to Church with you. The Sunday School teachers will then lead them across to the Parish Hall for Sunday School following the children's focus.

Taizé Night Prayer & Evensong Schedule
» Saturday, January 07, 2017

In the busyness of our work-a-day lives, we all need a place and a space where we can be still and know the presence and the peace of God. In a world that is filled with noise it is good to have a place where quiet is respected and conversation is not required.

Come and Pray With Us in the stillness of a candlelit hour.

Taizé Service Schedule:

- Friday January 13th, 7:30pm

- Friday February 10th, 7:30pm

- Friday March 10th, 7:30pm

- Friday May 12th, 7:30pm

- Friday June 9th, 7:30pm

Evensong is a quintessentially Anglican Service. Our Evensongs are of the traditional style with the chanting of canticles, versicles and responses and the singing of evening hymns.

Evensong Service Schedule:

- Sunday April 30th, 4:00pm

- Sunday September 17th, 4:00pm

- Sunday November 19th, 4:00pm

- Sunday February 18th, 4:00pm

- Sunday May 20th, 4:00pm
